FAQ: When is the best time to visit?

At any time of the year.

Summer – (Dec–Feb) – can be hot and is also the high season.

Autumn – (Mar May) – is a beautiful time of the year, often with very settled weather and the famed colours of the trees in South Canterbury and Otago are at their best.

Winter – (Jun–Aug) – is also a time of great exceptional beauty and will give you some magnificent experiences and often stunning days, provided you enjoy colder temperatures.

Spring – (Sept – Nov) – is perfect to experience the sparkling countryside, snow-capped mountains and the special light that shimmers all over the regions.

FAQ: What can you organise for us?

We specialise in New Zealand’s most stunning area between the Christchurch and Queenstown International airports. From meeting you on arrival to dropping you off for the next leg of your New Zealand holiday, we can arrange and organise everything you might like to do and see within that area.

FAQ: What should we bring?

A jacket and hat because this is an alpine environment and the weather can be changeable even in the summer. Also make sure you have good walking shoes. Otherwise the essential things are an appreciation for new experiences, plenty of enthusiasm and plenty of memory sticks for your camera.

FAQ: Will you pick us up from either Christchurch or Queenstown airport?

Yes, that is all part of our service. Depending on your arrival time we can also give you a short introductory tour or introduce you to a great restaurant.

FAQ: Can we go shopping?

Absolutely. We will take you to reputable outlets, boutique studios, working artists, producers and craftspeople, or to vineyards and a salmon farm – whatever you want to look at we can introduce you to respected traders and producers. Many of the products can be shipped to your home.

FAQ: Can we taste New Zealand wines?

Wine is one of our passions. The choice is extensive and even within the small area we cover there is significant variation in the types of wines produced by the winemakers, who are all committed to creating some of the world’s best wines. There are so many vineyards to visit. Tell us your wine variety preference and we can take you to the best wineries.

FAQ: Does New Zealand make spirits as well?

In our region – near Lake Wanaka - there is a new boutique whisky distillery. It’s The Cardrona Distillery which aims to produce the very best whisky possible using pure local water and traditional Speyside methods. They also produce vodka, gin and triple sec.

FAQ: Can we meet artists?

Many creative people have made our region their home. We can take you to meet painters, photographers, sculptors and other artists with distinctive talents.

FAQ: Can we play golf?

Some people come to New Zealand exclusively to play golf. There are world class courses and smaller country courses with fantastic scenery. There is no need to bring your own clubs. You can hire them at most courses. We can plan your days around playing times, although at certain times of the year getting in a round of golf will definitely be weather dependent.

FAQ: How much time should we allow?

Ideally a day in and around Christchurch, a day to travel to Lake Tekapo, two days exploring that area, a day to drive to Queenstown. So the ideal minimum is five days. We can however, give you a wonderful experience in three days by driving directly to Lake Tekapo and the Mackenzie country. If you have more time there are several extra activities you can enjoy to create a truly memorable holiday.

FAQ: What is included in the daily rate?

  • The daily  rate covers transportation, private driver and all road costs. We quote at the time of enquiry as this is dependent on the number of people travelling.  A day is estimated to be approximately 8 hours in duration, but this can vary depending on the activities undertaken. A complimentary bottle of New Zealand bubbles is included in this charge. Bottled water is also complimentary.
  • Additional activities booked on behalf of the client will be added to the base charge.
  • We are happy to book accommodation for you and then add the tariff to the base rate. Otherwise this cost is your responsibility.
  • We love doing picnics and can provide a list of options for you to select from. We use a chef/master baker to prepare your special fare.

FAQ: What is the maximum number of guests you cater for?

We cater for one couple travelling on their own, two couples who know each other travelling together, or a small family of up to five.
